The Monkees Tour

On Tour With The Monkees!

October 1967
- SCOOP! The biggest problem for the guys is coming and going - without getting hurt! In each city, at every show, the Monkees have to scramble for safety. Davey and Mickey (below, set #1) get ready to rush backstage. Peter, traveling in a second car, can be seen in the background. Every stage has its own special problems, which the Monkees have to work out so their spec sound doesn't change from city to city. If this groovy tour doesn't convince everyone that each of the Monkees plays their own instruments, then nothing ever will!

The Monkees concert tour has lasted all summer long and is finally coming to an end. Just in time! The boys need a rest! As seen below (set #2), with the next show just hours away, Davey is wigging out while Peter and Mike flake out for a quick nap in their hotel room.

By the way, you can stop worrying about Davey, as he will not be drafted. He will receive a hardship deferment, as expected, because he is the sole support of his family.
In other news, there is a rather interesting rumor that The Lovin' Spoonful were originally considered for the series before the Monkees were created. And a British group called The Spectrum is trying to follow in the Monkees' footsteps. They were just signed for a TV series and hope to take off in the same way.
The Monkees are still working on their next album and no due date has been set. Until its release, here are our recommendations: The Beatle's "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band" (if you don't already have it), Johnny Rivers' "Rewind", The Tremeloes' "Here Comes My Baby", and "Release Me" by Englebert Humperdinck. Any of these action albums would be groovy additions to your collection!
